Description
This Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich features golden, crispy bread encasing a gooey, melted cheese center. It’s the perfect companion to a warm bowl of potato soup, offering a delightful contrast of textures and flavors.
Ingredients
2 slices of sourdough or whole grain bread
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
2 slices of cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
Place one slice, buttered side down, onto the skillet.
Layer the cheddar cheese slices on top of the bread in the skillet.
Cover with the second bread slice, buttered side up.
Grill until the bottom slice is golden brown, approximately 3-4 minutes.
Flip the sandwich carefully and continue grilling until the other side is golden and the cheese has melted, another 3-4 minutes.
Remove from skillet, slice diagonally, and serve immediately alongside potato soup.
Notes
For added flavor, consider spreading a thin layer of garlic butter on the bread before grilling.
Experiment with different cheeses like Gruyère or mozzarella for a unique twist.
Pairing this sandwich with a tangy pickle or a side salad can enhance the meal.
